Unofficial Start of Summer!

It's the very last day of May, so it's time to gear up for summer! Most schools are already out (ours is out in one week!) and it's time for everything to be outdoors and coated in sunshine. I have two summery red, white, and blue cards to share today. Both feature new products from Pretty Pink Posh.

Have you ever seen a cuter row of ants?! This fun card features the Big Celebration Cupcake from Pretty Pink Posh. I love how this cupcake turned strawberry basket turned out.

The blue cardstock is Periwinkle, shaded with Cornflower ink.

The red cardstock is Coral, shaded with Cherry ink.

The green cardstock is Meadow, shaded with Moss ink.

The grey cardstock is Charcoal, shaded with Charcoal ink.

I'm a bit proud of my background here, too! The star background is actually the very last layer stencil from PPP's Layered Party Hats Stencil. It's just one of the four stencils in the set. I inked it first with Cornflower ink, then rotated the stencil and inked again in Cherry. I diecut that with the PPP Wonky Stitched Rectangles. The 'summer greetings' sentiment was pulled from an older set: PPP Sumer Wreath.

My second card is a fun red, white, and blue shaker!

This card uses the additional stars, banners, and fireworks dies from the same PPP Big Celebration Cupcake set. I cut all the pieces from white cardstock and colored them with Copics. The main element was created by diecutting a window with the PPP Wonky Stitched Rectangles, which I filled with PPP Patriotic Stars shaker elements

Thanks for stopping by and happy unofficial start to summer!

Tropical Bird Cards

I've had the Disneyland 'Tiki Room' song stuck in my head for three days... I have good reason, promise...

Don't these adorable tropical birds make you want to enjoy a Dole Whip while watching 60 year old animatronics sing Tiki Room at you? I might just need to buy my Disneyland tickets now!

I gave in and subscribed to the Spellbinders Small Die of the Month Club. I really couldn't let these guys slip away. I spent three days piecing together endless color combinations of parrots and toucans. All colored cardstock for these cards is from the Concord and 9th variety pack.

The background uses a Simon Says Stamp Plate called Whirl Diamond. The sentiment is also a foiled plate from Spellbinders that I used with gold foil and my Glimmer Machine.

I did my best to make this parrot look like a classic macaw. I settled him in a circle die cut window with his little branches and leaves. All he's missing is his Dole Whip!

The background was embossed with the Criss Cross Floral embossing folder from SSS.

I know this won't be the last you'll see of these birdies! Put a bird on it.

Stencil fun - Congrats Card

New card day! I was having fun playing with all my old stencils, and that's how this card was born.

The focus is on the Floral Garden Stencil. For the Pitch Black card background, I inked up the stencil with Dove White ink and then ran the stencil on top of the Pitch Black cardstock through my die cutting machine. This imprinted the ink and left a raised look to the background.

Next, I used Glitter Paste over the stencil onto Watercolor Cardstock. Do you know how much you need Glitter Paste? Because you need Glitter Paste. Once the paste was dried, I painted the panel with Reactive Inks in Pool Party, Key Lime Fizz, and Taffy.

I then die cut four pieces of the watercolored panel from the Rounded Jewel Infinity Dies. I glued the four pieces onto the black panel. Next I die cut the "Congrats" sentiment, which came from the May 2024 My Monthly Hero Kit. I die cut those from the Pitch Black cardstock and the white glitter cardstock.

Father's Day Cactus Card with Distress Pencils

Time for some messy watercolor! This weekend I took Jenn Shurkus's Distress Watercolor Pencil technique class. I have so many great backgrounds from the class, and turned one of them into a succulent themed Father's Day card.

The card started with this background from the class. I used a Tim Holtz stencil Measured with Hero Arts Paste. I then watercolored it with Distress pencils in Vintage Photo and Salvaged Patina.

The succulents are from Hero Arts Cactus Fancy Die set. Each piece was cut from watercolor cardstock and also painted with Distress Pencils.

I backed the succulents on some Vellum so they wouldn't get lost in the cool background. The sentiment was stamped in Espresso Ink and is from a Lawn Fawn set called Dad and Me.

Wishing you a crafty week ahead! Thanks for stopping by :)

Pretty Pink Posh Baby Cards + Instagram Hop

I have more Pretty Pink Posh cards to share! Today is my hop day on Instagram (make sure to visit @rwkrafts to comment). I'm sharing three new baby cards featuring Pretty Pink Posh new releases for May.

You'll see that I created a blue, pink, and a yellow baby card. Each card starts with a background that features the PPP Baby Words stencil. The yellow card uses Pearl Paste by Hero Arts. I also die cut two Eyelet Square dies to frame the baby images.

The super cute stamps are from the PPP Baby Basics set along with the matching dies. All of the images are colored with Copic markers. The yellow cardstock is Canary from Hero Arts.

The Peony card uses the Baby Words Stencil with Hero Arts Glitter Paste. Three of the smallest Eyelet Squares were die cut from white cardstock to frame the images. These stamps are also from the Baby Basics set with matching dies; all colored with Copics.

The cute little stamps were adhered with foam tape to give them a little pop.

Of course there had to be a shaker card made! The blue card uses the adorable PPP Baby Rattle die, which I've turned into a shaker card using the Spring Breeze shaker beads. I again framed the rattle on an Eyelet Square die that was cut from vellum paper. All the cardstock used is from Hero Arts

Be sure to visit the Instagram hop to leave comments! There is a $30 Pretty Pink Posh gift card up for grabs for each hop day!

Pretty Pink Posh May Release Hop!

I am so excited to share that I am a Pretty Pink Posh guest designer for the entire month of May! There are some super cute releases this month and I had a blast creating with these unique products.

This is day 3 of the blog hop fun! Be sure to leave comments on the blogs (from all three days!) for a chance to win one of three $30 gift certificates to the Pretty Pink Posh store. Woohoo! So be sure to comment by 11:59pm on May 15th for a chance to win.

I'll be sharing two cards that feature some of the great new products released for May. My first card is a shaker card! It's been literal yeeeaaarrrs since I've made a shaker. They are so much fun and I'm glad I had an excuse to create one!

The card features the Champagne Flute Shaker Dies with the darling Celebration Shaker Beads inside. I cut the champagne flute, then cut out the center. I needed two layers of clear sheets to sandwich the shaker beads in the middle of the flute. I love how it looks! I lightly shaded the champagne glass with Antique Ivory Ink as well.

The CHEERS sentiment is stamped and die cut using the Balloon Alphabet Stamp Set and the coordinating Balloon Alphabet Dies. I colored them with light BG Copic markers.

Lastly, I used the Fancy Lattice Stencil with Mist and Arctic ink blended on top. This background pairs perfectly with the colors in the Cheers sentiment. I also wanted the champagne glasses to stand out a bit against the background, so I created a white border with the new Eyelet Squares dies.

My second card uses some of the cute new baby themed releases! I started by stamping the background using the Decorative Hexagons stamp set. I stamped a variety of sizes of the solid stamps using Hero Arts Arctic ink. I then stamped the coordinating pattern stamps on top with Bermuda ink. I die cut that entire background panel using Pretty Pink Posh Wonky Stitched Rectangles Die

Aren't those baby blocks are adorable!? The blocks, the sentiment, and the rattles are all from the PPP Baby Basics stamp set and cut with the coordinating dies

Thanks so much for joining me in the hop! Be sure to continue the hop and leave comments for a chance to win a $30 gift card!

Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Hop + May Kit Reveal

It's hop day! There is an incredible My Monthly Hero Kit filled with surprises for Hero Arts 50th birthday celebration! Leave comments along the hop for a chance to win a $50 Hero Arts gift card. Happy Birthday, Hero Arts!

Of course I had to make a birthday card! The card above uses the MMH Classic Kit stamps and coordinating dies. First I created a background pattern that uses Pink Grapefruit ink and the small stamp confetti cluster included in the kit. I then cut out the center using the Postage Stamp Infinity Dies.

The focal point is that beautiful decorated cake! I stamped it on watercolor cardstock and used a variety of Hero Arts Reactive Inks (Creamsicle, Lemon, Taffy, Fruit Punch, Pool Party, Green Apple) to color the image. The images were die cut with my Compact Cutter and added to the center of the card using foam adhesive.

Next I'm sharing my card using one of the May New Releases - Sunburst Flowers Bold Prints. I love love (LOVE) Hero Arts' Bold Prints. Nothing beats that red rubber stamping :)

This card uses a fun watercoloring technique. I first stamped the image in three Reactive Ink colors Key Lime Fizz, Creamsicle, and Berry Smoothie on watercolor cardstock. The panel stayed in place in my MISTI while I sprayed the whole thing with water. This allows the Reactive Inks to spread the color.

With the stamp and panel in place in my MISTI, I then stamped again with Embossing Ink and heat embossed in Gold powder. I paired the background with a Happy Birthday sentiment cut from Kiwi cardstock and Gold Glitter. I also used the single balloon die from the new Balloon Bunch Fancy Die.

Make sure to visit all the stops on the hop! Enjoy the inspiration :)

May Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Countdown Hop!

There is a very extra special Hero Arts My Monthly Hero kit this month! You may have heard that Hero Arts is celebrating it's 50th birthday, and we have the perfect kit to match. Be sure to leave comments throughout the countdown hop for a chance to win a kit of your own!

My card is created using the Classic May My Monthly Hero Kit. I used some smaller candles to create my own background pattern. All images are colored with Prismacolor Pencils. I used the scalloped rectangle infinity die to give a fun border to the panel, and layered that on Paradise cardstock.

There are also some fun dies included in the kit! I heat embossed Pitch Black Cardstock with black detail embossing powder, then die cut the 'wish' sentiment. The 'wish' and cake slice were popped up with foam tape.

Be sure to subscribe to the kit so you don't miss out! Thanks for stopping by :)
