Put a Bird on it

It's time to put a bird on it! (Obligatory link to Portlandia's Put a Bird on it sketch). I received two bird dies from Simon Says Stamp's Die-Cember event. The dies reminded me so much of Charley Harper's bird artwork that I just had to have them. Finally I had a chance to use them a month later!

I created this card for the Simon Says Stamp IG Challenge: White on White. It was a fun challenge for me to work in monochrome, with just a touch of silver. The paper for all the white layers used is Hammermill.

The background is embossed with Spellbinders Dazzling Dots embossing folder. Since the card is all one color, I wanted to add as much texture as I could. The panel was also heat embossed along the edges using Hero Arts Silver Embossing Powder and Embossing Ink Pad

The shooting star die and the twig die are from an old Hero Arts kit and the 'HI' letters are from the December 2023 kit. All pieces were die cut using my Compact Cutter and the silver is Hero Arts Glitter Cardstock.

I loved putting birds on things so much that I have a second card to share. Let's put a bird on it!

The real purpose of this card is that I'm trrrrrying so very hard to embrace the new Pantone Color of the Year: Peach Fuzz. I'll be honest and say that I am not a fan of this color. I was not at all excited by the announcement. But Pantone saw something in Peach Fuzz, and I'm trying to see something in it, too!

This card uses the same bird dies as the card above. The colored cardstock is from Concord and 9th. I do kinda sorta like this color combo of navy and peach. I will award the peach fuzz color +1 points :) The background stamp is Sparking Fireworks with Peony Ink.

Once all those little birdies were glued down, I die cut the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Birthday Stamp and Cut XL set with Pitch Black cardstock.

I have officially used Peach Fuzz for the year :) Thanks for stopping by!
