Love you sooo much

Valentine's Day cards are typically your classic pink/red/white color combo. Who says they can't be bold black with a touch of rainbow?!

I started by diecutting watercolor cardstock with the Love You So Much plate. I then watercolored in somewhat rainbow order using my Hero Arts Brights Liquid Watercolors. Colors used were: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Indigo, and Purple. I simply added a single drop of each color to my glass mat and painted with my water brush. Once dried, I did a second layer painted on top to make the colors more vibrant.

I created a card base with Pitch Black cardstock. The watercolored die was carefully glued on top... just a little glue will go a long way! I painted the hearts with Gold Metallic paint and glued those on as well. To finish it off, I sprayed the entire card with Iridescent Shimmer Mist

This was such a QUICK card to put together. The main time spent was on drying the cardstock. I love that this die plate makes such a full card with little effort.

Key to my Heart

You've got the key to my heart! 🔑 Today's card uses a lot of the new January releases from Hero Arts.

I started by creating my own ink-blending background. I used the heart mask from Heart Burst Stencil to lightly ink off of the heart with Peony ink. I did this multiple times to create my own patterned paper. I die cut this cardstock with the Postage Infinity Dies then inked the edges with Cherry ink using my blending brush.

I cut a slightly larger Postage Infinity Die from white cardstock and stamped the Ode to Andy Warhol background stamp, which was inked with Pink Grapefruit and Butter Bar.

The darling stamps are from Lovebirds and Friends and colored with Copic Markers. The bundle comes with matching dies so I cut those with my Compact Cutter. The sentiment and bird are popped up with foam tape.

I glued all the panels onto Cherry cardstock to match the inked Cherry edges. For the most subtle, final touch, I added a few drops of Sparkle Lacquer.

I Heart U

I'm sure you've seen the Heart Burst Stencil making the rounds recently. There's a reason for that! It's such a simple stencil to customize however you want to match your style.

On Deluxe Smooth White Cardstock I inked over the stencil with my blending brushes in the following colors: Mist, Soft Blossom, Lemon Yellow, and Pink Grapefruit. I then masked off the 'rays' of the stencil leaving only the center heart exposed. That was filled in using the Palette Knife with Hero Arts Glitter Paste and waited for it to dry naturally.

The die cut portion of the sentiment uses the I Love U Stamp and Cut bundle. I was torn between wanting lighter or darker letters, so I made both to compare. This is a great side-by-side of the Hero Arts Iridescent embossing powders depending on if you use a white paste or a black paste. The top cut out uses Black Wax with Iridescent Blue and also Iridescent Purple embossing powders sprinkled on top. The bottom cut out uses plain Hero Paste with the same embossing powders. Both were heated and embossed with my strong heat tool. The difference is dramatic!

I opted to use the white lettering. The softer look matched the card better, and the shine is so so pretty! I die cut the letters using my Compact Cutter.

The center 'love' sentiment is also from the I Love U bundle, stamped in Arctic ink. The panel was splattered with Yellow + Copper Metallic Spray, then glued onto an Arctic Cardstock A2 card base.

Love Wreath Valentine Card

It's time to start focusing on Valentine's Day cards! The January Hero Arts release is filled with great Valentine themed, or just happy love themed stamps in general. Today I'm sharing a card that features two of the new releases.

I started by stamping the lovely scripty new background stamp, Ode to Andy Warhol Script, with Peony Ink onto Deluxe Smooth White cardstock. I then splattered the panel with Fuchsia + Gold Metallic Spray. The subtle shine it gives is so so pretty! Once dried, this stamped panel was die cut with Rounded Rectangle Infinity Dies.

This beautiful wreath uses the Valentine Wreath Bundle. I first stamped the wreath and some accessories with Watermark Ink onto Pitch Black Cardstock using Rose Gold Embossing Powder. This Rose Gold is quickly making its way to the top of my list! It's so beautiful and has a nice shine. After heating the powder with my heat tool, I die cut the images using the Compact Cutter.

I popped up the main wreath with foam tape and then popped up the little flowers on top of that. The "sending you love" sentiment was stamped with Intense Black Ink and also popped up with foam tape. The finished panel was then glued onto an Ultra Pink cardstock A2 card base.

Flower and Hearts - Inlaying Die Cuts

I love a cover plate die that helps create multiple cards at once. Today I'm sharing four cards that all came together with the Flowers and Hearts Cover Plate and four different cardstocks. All products I'm sharing today are from Hero Arts. Put on a favorite show, crank that die cutting machine, and start gluing some paper!

These cards all started because I really wanted to create the black cardstock panel with some favorite colors... which in turn, created 4 cards! I first cut the Flowers and Hearts Plate from Pitch Black cardstock that measured 4.25" x 5.5". I then did the same with Azalea, Mustard, and Peacock cardstocks.

Obviously, now that I have all these die cut pieces with 4 beautiful cardstocks, I HAD to create the four cards! Like I said - I put on the Bills vs Steelers game and got down to gluing!

These are the process photos I posted last night on my Instagram Stories (make sure you follow @rwkrafts !).

I tried a lot of different sentiment options, but I didn't like anything that covered too much of the main card. So I decided to go with the small sentiment "sending you love" from the Valentine Wreath Bundle. I used the same sentiment for all cards, stamped in Intense Black Ink and die cut with my Compact Cutter.

Time to let the Azalea cardstock shine!

Now give it up for the Peacock cardstock :)

Don't forget about the Mustard cardstock! Do you have a favorite? I went into this only wanting the Pitch Black panel, but I do love them all so much!

Put a Bird on it

It's time to put a bird on it! (Obligatory link to Portlandia's Put a Bird on it sketch). I received two bird dies from Simon Says Stamp's Die-Cember event. The dies reminded me so much of Charley Harper's bird artwork that I just had to have them. Finally I had a chance to use them a month later!

I created this card for the Simon Says Stamp IG Challenge: White on White. It was a fun challenge for me to work in monochrome, with just a touch of silver. The paper for all the white layers used is Hammermill.

The background is embossed with Spellbinders Dazzling Dots embossing folder. Since the card is all one color, I wanted to add as much texture as I could. The panel was also heat embossed along the edges using Hero Arts Silver Embossing Powder and Embossing Ink Pad

The shooting star die and the twig die are from an old Hero Arts kit and the 'HI' letters are from the December 2023 kit. All pieces were die cut using my Compact Cutter and the silver is Hero Arts Glitter Cardstock.

I loved putting birds on things so much that I have a second card to share. Let's put a bird on it!

The real purpose of this card is that I'm trrrrrying so very hard to embrace the new Pantone Color of the Year: Peach Fuzz. I'll be honest and say that I am not a fan of this color. I was not at all excited by the announcement. But Pantone saw something in Peach Fuzz, and I'm trying to see something in it, too!

This card uses the same bird dies as the card above. The colored cardstock is from Concord and 9th. I do kinda sorta like this color combo of navy and peach. I will award the peach fuzz color +1 points :) The background stamp is Sparking Fireworks with Peony Ink.

Once all those little birdies were glued down, I die cut the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Birthday Stamp and Cut XL set with Pitch Black cardstock.

I have officially used Peach Fuzz for the year :) Thanks for stopping by!

LOVE - Spring card

Hello everyone! If you're looking for the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero January Giveaway post please click here. If not, I still have another January MMH Kit card to share with you today!

If you hadn't yet noticed, I'm pretty attached to this new Layering Floral Background Stencil that's included in the January Kit. I wanted this card to learn more into the Spring season vibes rather than Valentine's Day vibes.

The stencil was ink blended in Lemon Yellow, Butter Bar, Soft Blossom, Peony, and Kiwi. I then cut the "LOVE YOU" (also in the kit!) from white glitter paper and glued to the card front. Easy easy!

My Monthly Hero January Kit Release Hop

Happy MMH Kit Release Day! There is so much gorgeous inspiration you'll find throughout the hop today. Make sure you leave comments along the way! One lucky winner will receive a $50 Hero Arts gift card, picked from comments throughout the hop. You have until January 14th, 11:59PM PT to enter... happy hopping!

There are endless possibilities for Valentine and spring card creations with this kit. My card features the January 2024 Classic Kit. It includes everything you see here:

My Love You card uses the gorgeous layering stencil included in the kit. I used my Hero Brushes to blend the colors over each stencil. The inks I used for the layering stencil were: Soft Blossom, Azalea, Cornflower, Summer Sky, and Moss. Moss, Summer Sky, and Azalea mini inks are included in your kit!

I then die cut the stenciled panel with Postage Stamp Infinity Dies. I did my best to center the "Love You" dies right in the center and die cut into the stenciled panel. I then layered with foam adhesive over Peacock Cardstock, and glued the whole thing on an A2 card folded from Deluxe Smooth White Cardstock.

Along with the beautiful January kit, there are several new Add On items being released today! I had so much fun creating with the new Heart Burst Stencil to create the card above.

When blending ink, I like to use the Deluxe Smooth White cardstock. I ink blended with Hero Brushes the stencil 'rays' with Dandelion, Butter Bar, and Azalea. I then added some Hero Glitter Paste to just part of the rays to blend out the glitter.

Once the glitter paste was dried, I placed the stencil back on top and masked off all of the 'rays' and added Gold Wax just to the center heart. The 'to my Valentine' sentiment was stamped and die cut from the new Valentine Wreath Bundle. I layered the stencil panel on Azalea Cardstock, die cut from Rounded Rectangle Infinity Dies.

Thank you so much for stopping by! You should have arrived here from Karen's blog and your next stop is Lydia. You can always get all the hop links at the Hero Arts Blog.

My Monthly Hero January Countdown!

Hello and welcome to Day 2 of the My Monthly Hero January 2024 countdown! There are some beeeeautiful elements in this kit that you won't want to miss. Here is my countdown card:

You will find a gorgeous layering stencil in the Classic Kit, which I used for this card. When ink blending, I prefer the Deluxe Smooth White cardstock. The first layer is blended with Soft Blossom ink, the second layer with Azalea ink, the third layer with Summer Sky, and the fourth layer with Moss. Hint hint, you may see some of these colors included in your January Kit! I love the look of using Gold Wax for the top detail layer... it adds such a nice shimmery touch.

The sentiment uses stamps from the kit, which I heat embossed in Gold on top of Arctic Cardstock. I glued the stamped sentiment on top of the die cut heart, which I popped up with foam adhesive. I also heat embossed the little flowers in gold and blended with Summer Sky ink.

The whole card panel is topped off with some ink splatters of Fuchsia and Gold Metallic Spray

Be sure to stop by the Hero Arts blog for more inspiration! The kit is released on Monday, January 8th... you won't want to miss this one!
