My Halloween Displays

With Halloween just one week away, I thought I would share what I have out on display and link to the original project posts. I didn't realize I had so many Halloween projects until I sifted through the "autumn" drawer and there they were! The photos on this post are of my current house decorations, but click the links for all the details and step-by-steps!

My favorite Halloween creation was actually my first ever configurations box! It will be on display in my house every year until it deteriorates!

My next favorite Halloween project was the clock I made, complete with bones and a dead pumpkin patch and a really creepy trick-or-treating kid...

Next up I used one of my first Stampotique images to create this fun little coffin. It's currently on display with a vintage looking jack-o-lantern and one of my favorite Nightmare Before Christmas characters from when I was growing up...
http://www.rwkrafts.com/2016/10/mmmc-october-mood-board.html

Some of my first "official" rwkrafts Halloween projects include these two haunted houses. The one on the right was created for the DCWV design team and the one on the left was created for Faber Castell Design Memory Craft design team

One of my shelves also plays host to this fun skeleton I purchase a few years ago at Michaels along with some Dia de los Muertos figures I've purchased over the years. Tucked in the skeleton is one of my first Halloween ATCs, featuring Lawn Fawn stamps and a very controversial fork 😂

Happy Halloween everyone!!!

Skyline Tags

Today I'm sharing a 3 in 1 mixed media tag inspired by the Simon Says Stamp Cityscape challenge. I immediately knew I wanted to use an old The Crafter's Workshop stencil as the focus of the tags.

The largest tag is painted with Liquitex acrylic paints with the white building lines drawn with a Gelly Roll pen. I used the Urban Landscape stencil to paint in the black negative space of the buildings. The stencil also includes the positive image of the building details, so I quickly traced through the stencil with my white pen.

The rest of the tag is pretty simple. I added a strip of gold mesh ribbon and sequins along with a few pieces of Dina Wakley washi tape and a Tim Holtz Small Talk sentiment.

No journal is too great if you find what you seek.

The smaller tags are colored with Distress Ink and Liquitex acrylics. I also just used the positive building images of the stencil with Distress Ink in Black Soot.

you're all I had hoped to find in every single way.

I'll also be entering my tags in the Simon Says Stamp "Anything but a Card" challenge.

Trick or Treat? Slider Card

Hello September! For the rest of the country this mean autumn and chilly weather is on its way. However, here in the bay area our summer is just now getting started! I'll put that fact behind me, though, because so many great autumn and winter products are being released that I can't wait to use.

One of the many recent Lawn Fawn releases that broke my bank account included the amazing Double Slider Surprise die set. It took a lot of rewatching the how-to videos and trial and error but after SIX HOURS this card was finished and I love it. (Yes it took me six hours from start to finish...hopefully I can work on that speed!).

I stamped every single image in the wonderful Lawn Fawn "Costume Party" stamp set to put together this sweet trick or treating scene. All images were colored using my Copic markers and I fussy cut them all since I don't have the matching die set.

The background of the Double Slider Surprise pieces was blended with Distress Oxide Seedless Preserves and Distress Ink Hickory Smoke with a bit of Black Soot on the edges. The Forest Border Die was blended with Distress Ink Peeled Paint and Mowed Lawn.

A labor of love but I do really like the die mechanism and hope to become more of an expert on putting it together. I'll be entering this card into the Lawn Fawnatics Mood Board challenge :)

Lawn Fawn Coffee, Tea, and Treats

Well hot damn, I've been neglecting this poor site of mine! Please know that I post a LOT of my creations on my Instagram page and also my Youtube channel... those posts don't seem to ever make it over here to the site. I will try to do better!

I've made two last minute cards for the current Lawn Fawnatics challenge, "Coffee, Tea, and Treats" which closes entries in about two hours yikes!

The first card uses these adorable little elves from "Holiday Helpers" cheers-ing each other with yummy hot cocoa! Maybe they've finally completed all their holiday toys and are ready for a day off work :)

All of the images are stamped with Memento Black Ink and colored with Copic Markers. I fussy cut each image with detail scissors and adhered with my Tombow Dot Roller, or used foam tape on the elves. And I am loving this new Lawn Fawn Knit Picky paper pad! Such great colors and patterns.

My second card is all about this pineapple player and his admiring pineapple ladies :)  I used a mini Lawn Fawn stamp called "Aloha" to stamp the pineapples, add the faces, and the sentiment. I colored the pineapples with Copic markers and added some Wink of Stella glitter to their crowns.

The scene of the card came together with a variety of Lawn Fawn dies. For the photo frame I cut some Doodlebug "Fun in the Sun" paper with the "Say Cheese, Again" die. The little hill of sand is cut from the same Doodlebug collection with the "Stitched Hillside Borders" die. Finally the sun and the clouds are cut from Lawn Fawn "Let's Polka in the Meadow" paper using "Spring Showers" die.

So A-Moose-Ing!

Hello! Today I joined along with the latest Lawn Fawnatics challenge, which was a simple sketch. I pulled out my favorite Father's Day stamp set to create this cute card today.

I really really love this adorable Lawn Fawn set called "Dad + Me". I used this set for my Father's Day cards last year as well! To create this card I first did a lot of die cutting to create the circular scene to match the sketch.

I die cut a circle from Spellbinders nesting circle dies and used that as my base. Next I die cut the Stitched Mountain Border Lawn Fawn die from white cardstock. I used my Distress Inks in Peeled Paint, Tea Dye, and Crushed Olive to blend out the greenish-brownish color. The snow caps were colored with just a light touch of Distress Ink Antique Linen.

My cute baby mooses and Daddy moose were stamped on Neenah Solar White Cardstock and colored with Copic Markers. I fussy cut the images with my Cutter Bee scissors and popped them on the mountain scene with foam adhesive.

Finally the sentiment was heat embossed in white on black cardstock.

Dad - your jokes are always a-moose-ing! I love this because my dad is pretty hilarious and also wears glasses, so it fits perfectly!

Sparkle Wherever You Go

Leave a Little Sparkle Wherever You Go! Today I'm sharing an easy mixed media card that is filled with glitter and shimmer. The background of the card was inspired by a friend's water bottle that had these great waves of blues, geometric grids, and black doodles. I'm pretty happy with the outcome and the entire card came together in about 45 minutes (including drying time!)

The background was created by using a Gelatos Smoosh technique... you can see the entire process in my video. The Iridescent and Metallic Gelatos already have so much shimmer in the pigment, it really adds a lot of shine!

I'll be entering this card into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge (Sparkle and Shine) and the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge (Let's Doodle).

Get all the How-To details by watching my process video. Enjoy!

You Make me Smile

Welcome Back! I have a video for you all today creating this card. I busted out the ol' stencils and modeling paste for the current Simon Says Stamp Texture Challenge.

I mixed the modeling paste with Distress Oxide Inks, which is now my new favorite way to stain texture paste! I also colored these adorable images from the Simon Says Stamp "Best Friends" stamp set with Copic markers.

Did I mention I have a video?! It's been a while! You can watch it here or click the play button below... Enjoy :)

Cactus Card Set

I just got back from spring break in Arizona, so you can bet I have cacti on the brain! The current Lawn Fawnatics Challenge is all about making card sets. My absolute favorite Lawn Fawn stamp set, Stuck on You, is perfect for quick simple cards that look cute to boot.

What makes this set great for stamping is that it is all ink and stamp! No coloring in the lines. In order to get different shading on the images I stamped first in the lightest ink color, then inked just the edges with a darker color and stamped again. The MISTI came in super handy for this technique! I also used Simon Says Stamp ink that blends into the paper once it dries.

Each panel is stamped on Neenah Solar White Cardstock that was die cut. The card base is Neenah Desert Storm kraft cardstock, and the pattern paper is from DoodleBug "Fun in the Sun" collection.

Done and Done! Three cute cactusy cards that are no fuss and ready to jump in the mail.

Rainbow Birthday SMASH!

Springtime and rainy days and cool sunshine and rainbows... at least that's what we're lucky enough to have right now here in northern California! For those of you covered in feet of snow, maybe these little pinatas can cheer you up!

I created this birthday card with the Lawnfawnatics color inspiration in mind... Happy 1st birthday Lawn Fawnatics!

This card is also one of those that looks super simple but it really took me almost an entire day to make. I'm sure I was over-thinking it in the moment but it was definitely time consuming. I did love that I used a lot of Copic markers that I otherwise didn't touch often!

Each little pinata is colored with a minimum of 10 Copic markers within the same color family. The llamas and sentiment are from Lawn Fawn Year Seven stamp set and the confetti, party hats, and noise makers are from Lawn Fawn Party Animal.

My bestie will be receiving this card in about a month for her birthday! I know she won't throw it in the trash ;)

Hoppy Easter Bunnies

Easter is only two weeks away! Which means spring is right around the corner (even if it doesn't quite feel like it)! Now I know that Peeps are a love em or hate em kind of treat, but for me they've been a favorite of since I was little. Poke a hole in the plastic and wait two days... there's your ideal Peep!

These little colorful bunny Easter cards are of course inspired by that favorite sugar coated marshmallow snack :) I also created the cards for the Simon Says Stamp Easter Inspired challenge and the current LawnFawnatics "Fun with Dies" challenge.

Each of the bunnies and bunbun accessories were stamped on Neenah Solar White Cardstock, colored with Copic Markers, and fussy cut with detail scissors. I used pastel colors for all the bunnies and eggs. The die cuts were all colored with Distress Inks in very light shades to go with the spring time vibe.

Now for the Lawnfawnatics Fun with Dies challenge, this card uses Grassy Border die, Stitched Journaling Card die, and Hello Sunshine dies (which I never actually bought the stamp set for... maybe I should get on that!). The grass was shaded with Distress Ink "Mowed Lawn", the clouds in Distress Ink "Tumbled Glass", and the sun in Distress Ink "Squeezed Lemonade." Of course the stamp is also from Lawn Fawn "Hoppy Easter".

Thanks for joining me this weekend! Hope you all get some sunshine soon :)

Stampotique - Hearts and a Video

This project is my last one as the January guest designer for Stampotique, and the challenge is HEARTS! 💗💗 Thank you to the Stampotique Designer's Challenge for having me on board all month long!

I used the adorable "Animal Cube" stamp, watercolored the critters, and added them to a heart-filled card. I kept this card sentiment-free so it can be used for Valentine's Day, anniversaries, birthdays, Mother's Day, or just thinking of you.

I also created a quick video sharing my coloring process. Please take a moment to give it a Thumbs Up and Subscribe to my channel if you'd like! Thank you!
