Mix it Up with Stitching

I warned you in yesterday's post that I was immediately addicted to Ken Oliver's Color Bursts! And here they are again in action... this time on my layout for the May Mix it Up Challenge at Paper Issues! We're hoping to see your layouts that feature stitching of any kind. Just have fun and join us in the Paper Issues Friends and Fans group!

The photo on this layout is from a couple weeks ago when Matt and I decided to go have brunch near the water in Baltimore! Such a gorgeous day! The photo of us by the water is why I went with a teal and lime green color palette.

I just had a lot of fun with this one and got inky and messy and stitchy. I first cut the Arrow String Art pattern on a white sheet of cardstock... this pattern is FREE in the Paper Issues Store! I gave the entire sheet a thin coat of gesso and let it dry completely, and then I stitched the arrow pattern with some silver and white twine from Lawn Fawn.

Then I went crazy with my Color Bursts! I sprayed the page generously with water, then sprinkled some Turquoise and Lemon color bursts, along with the liquid metal to give it some shine. I tilted the page around to get the color moving, then let it dry.

I also got to play with my brand new FANCY FREE collection! I love the embellishments, especially the chipboard pieces. I kept the embellishments to a minimum because I wanted the stitched arrow and background to still stand out.

As always, you can get EVERYTHING in the Paper Issues store for 20% off with the code RWKRAFTS at checkout... maybe you can snag yourself some coveted Fancy Free :)
