5 for 5 Halloween Day 4 - STENCILS

Welcome back to day 4 of our 5 for 5 Halloween event! Today our theme is STENCILS! Each of the designers will be creating a Halloween project using stencils. Be sure to visit each designer and leave comments... some of us are offering fun prizes!

Today is a little extra special because it is also the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge mid-month post! Our October Challenge is all about being inspired by words you find in our SPOOKY WORD SEARCH!

My project today was inspired by the word SKULL that I found in the MMMC word search. So here is my gift tag that also uses stencils from The Crafter's Workshop...

My tag was inspired by Tim's October tag. I started by collaging Frightful Ephemera pieces throughout my tag, then coated it with matte medium. Once the medium dried, I drew along the border of each image with an orange PITT Pen and smeared it with my finger.

I used some black paint and the TCW stencil "Receipt" to finish off the background. Next I 'stamped' my TCW "Sugar Skull" stencil with black paint and let it dry completely. Then the skull was cut out and I painted inside the eyes and teeth with green and orange paint. Finally I used my white gel pen to add finishing dots and detail.

The skull was backed with some torn guaze paper and mounted on foam adhesive to add dimension. An arrow and a 'haunt' charm complete my tag!

I'm so glad you stopped back today! Don't forget to enter your spooky creation to the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge gallery!
