A Year of Choices - MMMC #13

Hello June! For many it's already summer... school is out and it's time to hit the beach! But first you should join in the newest Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #13 A YEAR OF CHOICES

Our not-so-little little challenge is now ONE YEAR OLD! To celebrate, the challenge theme is to pick ANY of our previous 12 challenges to play along! You have so many options: Spray Inks and Mists, Around the House, Stencils and Paste, Photo Inspiration, Ribbon Twin and Fiber, Stamps, Tic Tac Toe, New to You, Think Pink, Birds of a Feather, April Showers, and finally... May Flowers!

I decided to go with my favorite one: Stencils and Pastes

I also used the color palette from our Photo Inspiration for my tag. The summer means it's time for NAUTICAL (another favorite of mine!) so this seahorse needed to be showcased.

I used a stencil from The Crafter's Workshop called "Sea Creatures". I used texture paste over the seahorse image and let the paste dry COMPLETELY. Then I colored him with Mango Gelatos and inked around the edges with Picked Raspberry.

The painted background was created with some Distress Paints, another Crafter's Workshop stencil "Ledger", and some heart stamps. I used fun tulle ribbon from Maya Road to dress up the bottom of the tag. I also included some painted buttons and metal embellishments from Maya Road.

Little Things Make Life Big

Our very generous sponsor for our 13th challenge is MAYA ROAD! They are offering some great prizes to a lucky winner!

I can't wait to see what you create for our YEAR OF CHOICES challenge! You have until June 30th to upload your project to the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge gallery. We would also like to share a few new rules with our participants now that we're one year old...

1 - You must used our challenge graphic/badge in your post
2 - You must comment on at least 3 design team member's blogs to be eligible for prizes or honors.
3 - You may combine with up to 4 more challenges

Baa. Squeek. Unity Thursday + Quick Tip Video

Another Thursday already?! Can't complain :) I have a fun masking technique to share today, using some of the most adorable Unity stamps ever!

I've been wanting this stamp set "Meow, Purr, Baa" since the day it was released... and this week I finally got my hands on it! I love the cute animals and the big open spaces for coloring.

The card was created using a simple Masking technique. The only extra supply you need other than your typical stamping necessities is a basic sticky note pad. Stamp the images on a sticky note, fussy cut them, and then use them as masks while your stamping! This is a great way to make a one-layer card, perfect for sending through the mail.

To help clear up the process, I threw together a Unity Quick Tip Video of the entire card from start to finish. It's only 59 seconds long, so I hope you watch it (and give it a thumbs up and heck... you could even subscribe to my YouTube channel!) :)

If you give this technique a try, make sure you share your creation on the Unity Show and Tell page! We love to see what you're all creating!

Time for prizes of course! Make sure you leave comments on all of the blogs throughout this hop for your chance to win the great prize pack shown above! The TWO WINNERS will be announced on Monday! P.S. I just used that She's Crafty coozie and I love it ;)

Your next stop is SHILO. Happy Hopping! And Happy SHOPPING the Unity Sales!

12 Tags Catch Up

EDITED TO ADD... I WON! I'm a Tim's tags winner for my May tag shown below :) woohooooo

The best way to spend a long weekend is to craft the days away! I spent two full days with my artsy fartsy girls, Jenn Shurkus and Lynn Kopas just playing and gettin' painty. On friday, we played catch up and made all of Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2015! They are way more fun to create with friends :)

I had already created two tags (my January/February one and the April one) and you can find the blog posts and videos here for February and here for April.

We started with May so we could actually enter one into the link up gallery ;) It wasn't my favorite of the tags at first, but it really was a lot of fun putting together. I think we enjoyed picking out the photo the most!

Hey, she kinda looks like me, right? :)

Next up I worked on the March tag. This is HANDS DOWN everyone's favorite. It's just so gorgeous and has so many great elements on it.

The gold embossed texture paste is just yummmmm. It's definitely my favorite part of the tag.

Last up for me was the February tag...

We didn't want to bother with the sewing machine, so I created a 'cross stitch' of sorts with the Tiny Attacher stapler.

Hopefully I can get the June tag done during the actual month of June! It was a lot of fun playing catch-up with the girls and Tim Holtz (in spirit)!!
