Crafty Fail turned Happy Results

This morning I experienced a total crafting fail. I was reminded how important it is to try something different. Even when it fails. Miserably. Then I reminded myself, "It's only ink and paper it's only ink and paper". It is so important to our crafting sanity to know when a fail is a fail, to put it in the trash can and walk away slowly. While the end result isn't what I had in my mind, I enjoyed the experience, enjoyed the challenge, and of course enjoyed the creative time. And I was reminded that this is what our hobby is about... enjoy the process!

I took on the latest Papertrey Ink Make it Monday challenge to heat emboss your die cuts. I don't own any matching stamp/dies from any company, so I was trying to do a fake out with the flower stamp to make it look like a die but not (know what I mean?). Anyways, after a lot of layered stamping and then even more layered heat embossing, I got this flower... 45 minutes later...

I promise wherever you see white space, it is embossed. I had no plans for what to do with this flower, and I definitely didn't want to make 5 more for a card, so I walked away. I tried to do the Make it Monday challenge and I'm shamelessly linking it up anyways because in the end, I did make a card I loved!... just with zero die cuts and zero embossing involved.

My finished card was also inspired by the Curtain Call photo challenge. I love the bright colors and the flowers polka dotted around the card.

This one layer card uses shadow dye inks from Hero Arts and stamps from Papertrey Ink "Ruby Rose" set. Yes it took quite a long time to get around to this one layer card, but the process is part of the fun!

Thanks for joining me for this happy hour post... now that it's 5pm I think it will be wine time.

  4. I agree that the creative time is important, and sometimes when I have an epic fail I cut the piece into a tag and it breaths new life into it.
