Stencil Love

Hellllooooo Friday! I was lucky enough to spend last week in Phoenix with my family, under perfect sunshine and gorgeous weather! Now back in Connecticut, and another 'polar vortex' has come our way. Since March is just around the corner, it's time to play with springy pastels and flowers :)

The stencil in the background is a brand new template from DCWV, that you can find now at Joann stores. I blended various Distress Inks in blue, purple, and yellow. Then I stamped the Unity 'Hollyhocks' and spring sentiment in black. The whole panel was placed on purple cardstock from DCWV "Honey Chic" pad.

The colors are inspired by Unity's color challenge. I simply toned them down to have a more pastel and Easter vibe.

I have one more quickie card to share using brand new paper from DCWV "Coral and Navy" stack. The color combinations in this paper collections immediately make me think of Martha's Vineyard. I had to play with the papers immediately so here it is...

Is it spring yet?! I need this snow to start melting so I can have my sanity back! Happy Friends with Flair day :)

One Cool Chick

Today is very very exciting! Not only am I home visiting family in Phoenix... but I am also starting my Copic Certification class! I hope to be Copic certified in just a couple days :)

Now it's time for Unity Friends with Flair! I made this card for my bestie friend because, let's face it, she's pretty cool.

I used Unity Stamp "Lil Panda Chick" and the sentiment is from a Unity grab bag. I thought they matched perfectly... that chick just has so much swagger! I also used the new "Honey Chic" stack from DCWV. I fussy cut the flowers to layer them, and also cut up a journal tag from the stack to mount the sentiment.

The bright colors from the Honey Chic stack also match with the new Unity Be Inspired color challenge...

Have a beautiful weekend :)

Valentine's for Your Sweetie

Happy Valentine's Day!! My internet has been very spotty the past 48 hours so I need to make this post short and sweet! I created 2 Valentine cards that a little more on the 'masculine' side, mainly they just aren't pink and red.

For both cards I used the new "Gilded Paper" stack from DCWV. This first card will also be linked up with today's Unity Friends with Flair!

Along with the sweet paper from the Gilded stack, I stamped many different Unity stamps in Delicata gold ink. I used "City of Love" for the sentiment, "Woodgrain Script" for the background, and "Here for You Map" for the hearts.

This card only uses paper from the Gilded collection. The sentiment was from a cut apart journal card in the stack.

Hope you have a lovely Valentine's Day! Enjoy the weekend and stay safe in the crazy weather :)

Hey Sailor - Nautical Mini Album

I just need to start by saying: I have a new favorite paper pad. And I mean FAVORITE! The new 'Hey Sailor' pad from DCWV is definitely not your standard nautical theme paper. It's classic, refined, original, and just perfect. Here is a fun mini album I created with the Hey Sailor stack (I'm thinking this will be perfect for those summer days in Rhode Island!)

warning: a lot of photos ahead!

The cover is from the new DCWV "Corrugate" stack. I cut the anchor icon from the Hey Sailor paper, added the sticker title, and some wood bits from Studio Calico.

One of the great things about the stack is the beautiful, and large, cut apart journal cards. They make such a big graphic impact on their own!

Throughout the mini album I added some envelopes to include various little pockets for hidden journaling or extra photos...

Here I added two mini envelopes, each with pull out pockets for journaling.

Love this phrase: I am not afraid of storms for I am learning how to sail my ship.

More mini envelopes for journal space...

Ok, so do you love this paper as much as I do? You can find the new releases at JoAnn stores. I've already used half of the pack. Now if only the snow could melt so I could actually get to a beach!

Please stop by the DCWV blog for more inspiration and projects!

Congrats! Happy Friday

I've spent the whole morning listening to a plumber drill a hole in my bathroom ceiling and two dogs howling like their lives depended on it. The only good thing that has happened this morning is finishing my card for Unity Friends with Flair! The plumbers are still here as I write this. Big Friday sigh.

The card design follows the card sketch for Unity's Be Inspired challenge this month. I used two Unity background stamps, ikat and heavy chevy, and also the house itty bitty stamp.

I plan on giving this card to a friend who just completed her new home! I'll be visiting her in March, woohoo!!

I Like Ewe

It has been too long since a serious paper piecing project has hit this blog! I have been neglecting my favorite paper technique, so this card is my apology to fussy cutting :) I promise I like ewe paper piecing, I really do.

All paper patterns have either polka dots or hearts, or polka dotted hearts for the current Lawnscaping Challenge. Bonus! The stamps are from an old (but new to me) Lawn Fawn set "Critters on the Farm".

They're so smitten with each other :) Such a cute couple.

Pattern papers are from Dear Lizzy "Lucky Charm", Studio Calico "Sundrifter", and Studio Calico "Print Shop". The little heart blings are from DCWV.

It's almost Friday... and winter Olympics! I am so excited to watch the opening ceremony, should be interesting!

Destination: 2014 - A layout

Update: The winner of my Valentine Giveaway pack is Number 13, Lisa! Thank you!

We're only one month into 2014, but I can easily say it's already much better than any given month of 2013. Maybe it was that unlucky number 13. It is time to really say Goodbye to the past, and Hello to the now. Here is my New Year scrapbook layout, inspired by the DCWV February Stackaholic Challenge Sketch.

I used the DCWV "Travel Adventure" stack for this entire layout. I wanted to use the flight and travel theme to show the departure of 2013 and the arrival of 2014. It was a lot of fun to look through these papers in a less literal view.

I had a few more photos of my adorable Pumpkin and Kiwi partying the night away on New Year's Eve. I put together a second layout also using the DCWV Travel Adventure stack.

We can't wait to see the entries for the DCWV Stackaholic Challenge! Visit the post here for details. This month we have a Scrapbook sketch AND a Card sketch! Be sure to join in the fun :)
