After a previous Play Date Cafe challenge I was on a purple and gold kick. And after Donna taught me about Gamsol I was on a mineral-oil-color-pencil kick. And you guys know I'm always on a water-color-splatter-all-over-the-place kick.
The first arty thing I ever got obsessed over was collages. My room back home is filled with huge magazine cut-out collages that I made in middle school. It was so nice to tear up pieces from a dumb Macy's perfume catalog and put them in the ATC!

We participate in the challenges because they are fun, and they stretch our creative juices, but I know what you mean - sometimes I get caught up in trying to make the "perfect" challenge card, I forget that being creative is suppose to be a release, not a stress. That is why we craft to begin with. Good for you for taking a step back and doing just what you want. For me - it can be frustrating sometimes because when you think you've made the "winner" - you haven't. I love the color combos of your ATCs girl. You did awesome! :o)
ReplyDeleteHow AWESOME!! Love how this relieves your stress after a day of work!! Beautiful inking on the ATCs!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea Rachel...it sure is relaxing sometimes to create not for challenges but fun. Lovely ATCs :)
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love challenges, its so liberating to just sit down, without any restrictions and just craft for the fun of it!
ReplyDeleteThese are fabulous and you can really tell that you totally enjoyed making them!
ReplyDeleteI should do that more often too!
Hugs, Karin
These are great. Being artsy is so fun isn't it - but I totally get ya about the "pressure". Wonder if it's a spring thing? You drive yourself from one challenge to the next through the winter and then when the sun comes out and you head out into the garden it's hard to get back to the PC and "rules" of challenges...
